Right from the start, the children totally immersed themselves into the Artworks.
Tallulah asked about the work by Jon Burgerman “ Is it everything that Dylan Thomas likes? “Jake asked if one panel represented ‘Nature’, one ‘Dylan Thomas’ and the other ‘War’.
Whilst contemplating about the Jeremy Deller piece ‘More Poetry Is Needed’, Elena said, “There are things in poetry of how your life may turn out when you’re older”.
Charlie said, “its easy to read, so Poetry doesn’t become extinct”.
Jake mentioned that his dad wrote poetry as a pastime and said, “there needed to be more public places to show off Poetry”. He was please when I explained that there was a Mega Poem created by Rhian Edwards. and the fact that we could add to it.
Lawri commented on the fact that children can express themselves through the Medium of Art and Cameron said that he had seen the ‘Art Makes Children Powerful’ artwork a thousand times while passing in the car.
We stopped off at the Amphitheatre and ate our lunch whilst enjoying Jacob Dahlgren’s work. We added to the Mega Poem in Welsh. Jake asked if Craig Fisher’s installation was of a bombed suburban house whilst Elena thought it represented a bombed hospital with references to the crosses on the walls.
At Thomas Goddard’s work Elena said, “Is it an elephant as a baby, then grown up, then a ghost”.
It was a full session and after viewing nine Locws Art pieces we were all very inspired and looking forward to creating our own Art at School. “Its been brilliant to see all of the different types of Art” said Laura. “I really enjoyed today because of all of the different types of Art that you can get. I didn’t think you could make art from writing”, surmised Elena.
