Locws Schools Programme for Autumn 2013 has now started with the young people from Bishop Gore exploring Art Across The City new artworks. Braving the weather on the tour it was great to see that all spirits were high and the group were eager to share their day with an Artist. It was delightful to see how much the teenagers of Bishop Gore took to the contemporary art on show. They were open-minded and very inquisitive about the work on show. Leah was impressed with the variety of materials and approaches that the artist adopted for the site -specific work on show.
Alish showed great interest in the positive and negative spaces portrayed in Mathew Holdings work and Fern loved the colourful nature of the works on show.
Back at school, spirits were still high and the group set to work creating their ideas. Small maquettes were made – some of intricate detail and the conceptual content were very impressive. During the workshops we managed to tie their ideas into their curriculum course work, which added useful artwork to their portfolios.
Mrs David the class teacher was incredibly resourceful, making the days run smoothly with great results. Everyone was extremely focused and on task and this is evident in the artwork produced.
