Neath Port Talbot College were taken on a guided tour around our new art commissions in October 2012, concentrating on the murals along the High Street in Swansea. This tour was then followed up by a “Swansea Icon” workshop led by our Community Outreach Coordinator Erin. The group were asked to recall the artworks commissioned by Locws International that they had seen previously and to consider the different aspects of Swansea that were highlighted through them. The group then started to produce a group mind-map about Swansea, using text and drawings to highlight the icons and aspects that they considered important. Erin then gave them a collection of photographs of empty and disused sites across Swansea city centre, they were asked to choose a site and to design an appropriate mural for that location.
