An important element of the “Swansea Icons” workshops is that everyone involved gained something from the experience. Our Outreach Coordinator Erin spent time with a group of young men from Townhill talking about “Swansea Icons” and the public artworks Locws International creates each year. The group was not very interested in drawing, and felt uncomfortable trying to express their ideas in this way. However the Phoenix Centre had an IT suite available to use with photo editing programmes. The group were interested in learning how to use these types of programmes, so Erin developed a workshop and spent time assisting each person individually so that they could successfully use the photo editing software to create murals that they’d like to see in Swansea. The IT suite was great, there was even a collection of photographs taken in Swansea – a great mind map for the group to use for inspiration.
