The art students at Ffynone House School took control over their main hall ready for a one day workshop with Erin our Outreach Coordinator. The “Swansea Icons” workshop began with a talk about Locws International, our aims and the design process that Artists’ use to develop ideas for public artworks, and more specifically public murals. Each student created a mind-map about Swansea, thinking about Symbols and Text that could be used to describe Swansea. Some of the students were new to the area so they worked in pairs with students that knew Swansea well, this started lots of interesting conversations about Swansea and lots of memories were shared. These ideas were they applied to create murals that the students would like to see around the city centre, highlighting aspects of Swansea that are most important to them.
