The “Swansea Icons” workshop was delivered to all of the students from Year 4 and Year 5 of Waunarlwydd Primary School, our Outreach Coordinator Erin Rickard had a very busy, energetic and fun time with the students creating their own Swansea based artworks. Erin started the workshops by talking about Locws International, our aims and what we have done in the past, which then led onto a face-paced session creating mind-maps about Swansea. The students then worked individually or in small groups developing mural ideas, everyone concentrated on the task at hand and created some fascinating artworks filled with symbolism and icons related to Swansea. At the end of the day each student told Erin what they had learnt, with some of the most inspiring responses being “I never knew I could draw so well.”
