Guided Tour of Locws International Art Across The City 2011
Once again, ‘Little bird’, instantly caught the imagination of the group and the creative thoughts were flowing immediately. The Sculpture evoked colour as an emotion and we wondered what sort of presence it would have if it were red or blue. Christian thought that it looked sad because it was black.
Leroy wondered why the sculpture was leaning back and had seen this work on several occasions whilst passing in the car. We wondered through the city talking about what we could see around us and looked at the contrasting objects architecture and sounds which felt in competition with each other. Christian thought that the trees made him feel happy and particularly liked Maider Lopez work -“Trees”.
Jackie Chattur’s installation was well received and Alex tried to make a rubbing of the copper plates to find out what they read.
“Wow their awesome”, said Joe when we saw Alex Duncan’s ‘Holocene’.
We all drew these giant pieces of “honeycomb”, (as Leroy described them).
Whilst drawing these we had a really good idea for a project –We had sketched the works on our tour and the idea was to combine the sketches to make one big mural on a wall in the school. This sounded great and I’m really looking forward to achieving this with the group whilst in school.
