Art Across the City 2015 Tour
Mikyas started the ball rolling by asking if David Cushway’s work ‘Prototype’ was a rocket car. Ayuniy responded by asking, “can it stay in space?”
“It’s a fish car”, said Oliver.
“Maybe it can hover”, said Ryan.
“What does it eat?’ said Shaun. The next stop on the tour was Swansea seafront and to view Colin Priest’s work.
Cerys asked if the bridge inspired the Artist.
Lauren asked, “Was he inspired by the clouds?” and Christian said he was taking ideas from the Slip Bridge and designing his own ice creams. Which of course was very true.
Saheb asked if Michael Stumpf’s sculpture was a Kryptonite man.
“Sir why is there a rock on his head”, asked Mikyas and Molly thought that the sculptures were in some way linked to the Leisure Centre.
Thando thought that bees had stung the guy and this was an allergic reaction.
Lauren particularly liked the ‘Tap-dancing boulder, as she thought it was giving a speech to the audience.
At the Civic Centre, where we viewed Emily Speed’s work, Saheb thought that the balloons were a celebration of teamwork.
“Maybe they are the leftovers from a Party”, said Molly.
In Graham Dolphin’s work, the children believed that it was interesting that the Swansea signs pointed to other Swansea’s over the world as being a multi-cultural school there was a great mixture of people from all over the world in Swansea.
