The children arrived and were very keen to get the tour started. Our first stop was to see David Cushway’s “Prototype”.
‘Is it a hover car’, said Rhys
Courtney said ‘it looks like a boat’.
Dylan commented, ‘ It’s a space ship car’. Colin Priest wrote some beautiful memories on the “sky image” Postcards.
Shaakira wrote “me and my mum went to the beach when I was a baby and the sand felt nice”
Victoria wrote, “I made a sandcastle by the water and the waves knocked it down”.
We made plenty of drawings of various artworks in the Hub, Kenzi drew a Slip bridge ice cream, and Colin Priest’s work was definitely sparking off ideas for the workshops days.
We had fun in the hub and Carlos commented on the fact that he loved it there.
Kara liked more poetry is needed by Jeremy Deller as the lettering was big and bold.
Michael Stumph’s work caused a bit of controversy as some children found it very weird and asked if there was an actual man in there. “He has a rock on his head as a meteor has fallen on him”. said Courtney.
“Is that a giant bubble gum?” asked Torota.
Issac spotted the deflated balloons in the civic center but loved it because he loved balloons.
Khalfan agreed and said they look awesome because of the reflections on them.
