Locws Schools 2014: Arfryn Education Centre

During the workshops we channelled our energy and positivity in creating a mural and a 3d train representing materials / artwork, coming in and out of Swansea. The train idea tied into the schools theme of travel.

This was taken from the children’s drawings and ideas from our tour and transferred onto a wall in the corridor of the centre. The Mural was bursting with imagination and brightly coloured. The Mural had strong connections with the Jon Burgerman Artwork being colourful and quirky.

An image of a computer had positive textual quotes from the children spilling off the screen. Some of it read “choose colour, choose painting, keep enjoying, work hard and enjoy school, Free running free art, free painting.”

Each child was very keen to participate and all gave 100% whilst engaging with the artwork experience.

The children involved were from 5yrs to 10 yrs of age so a range of ideas were explored as to what visual would work on the wall.

It was a great feeling of achievement to leave a brightly coloured positive artwork within the school which will be viewed by adults and children for years to come.
