June and July have been exceptionally busy here at Locws with projects rolling out across schools in Swansea. This year our project participants are the stars of Art Across the City and creative public artworks by our participants will be appearing at two different sites in Swansea this summer.

The first of which is a public art piece which will be sited at Morriston Hospital. The schools mural project run in partnership with Abertawe Bro Morgannwg University Health Board kicked off in April and is due to be launched on the 12th of July (more details below). We were overwhelmed by the volume and quality of art works we received from schools throughout the city so huge thanks goes out to all those who participated and contributed to the project. We’ve been busy, busy, busy working through all the submissions. The work has now been sent off to the printers ready for installation later this week and we can’t wait to see it!

We’d love to invite anyone who took part to come along to the launch of the mural at Morriston Hospital and we are extremely privileged that the launch will be attended and launched by The Right Worshipful Lord Mayor of the City & County of Swansea Councillor Downing and Mrs Lilian Downing.

Please find below information regarding the event:

Date and time: July 12th at 1:30 pm

Location: Clock Garden behind Ty Olwen on the grounds of Morriston Hospital

Maes Y Gwernan Hall is the suggested drop off point. From there you can walk along the path to the garden . Due to parking challenges it is advisable to allow plenty of time to find parking prior to the commencement of the event which will begin promptly at 1:30.

The hospital advises that children wear hi-vis vests if schools or parents have them.

It would be fantastic if the children could attend the launch and it would be hugely helpful if you could please RSVP to sian@locwsinternational.com by July 5th indicating how many people will be in attendance so we can inform colleagues at the hospital.

Please feel free to contact me if you have any further questions relating to the project or launch.
