Workshop days with David Marchant
Inspired by Graham Dolphin’s work about linking Swansea with other places around the globe, it was coincidental that Llwynderw had recently set up links with a school in Zimbabwe in a place called Siavonga. We felt it was very important to make artworks based on this current fact.
One group made an outstanding jungle scene based on wild animals. Others made a sculpture based on Jeremy Deller and Michael Stumpf’s work quoting “More shoes are needed”! Another group made cars, planes and space ships representing travel. There was also a small mural of a floating ice cream. There were musical instruments made from recycled material such as a harp and some drums representing the Welsh and African links.
We had a very busy two days with a lot of exploration, making, painting, and using salt dough, clay and mod rock creating our artworks.
