Workshop days with David Marchant
Grange is a Primary School with its own surrounding woodland area so there was no doubt in my mind that this would be a site-specific artwork influenced by the school grounds.
One group made a sculpture of two flowers, which could then be used as a photo prop whereby the children put their faces in the centre of the flowers. This work was a static style interactive performance piece derived from Michael Stumpf’s work.
Others were inspired by their school logo and made a large seagull sculpture. Others made memory boxes where everyone was welcome to post their favourite memory of the school. A very exciting ‘Art Attack’ style work was made of the school badge with different materials being used and the children themselves becoming part of the art work.
