We are always looking for new, enthusiastic and friendly volunteers to join our team and help us carry out our public art programme. Volunteering is a great way to gain valuable experience and get involved with what’s going on in the art scene as well as get an insight in to how public art organisation operates. Through volunteering you will also meet likeminded people and build experience and skills in areas such as artwork installation, administration, publicity, invigilation, workshop support and professional development.
We are now offering three different types of exciting volunteering roles at Locws:
Invigilators/ live guiding: We are looking for committed volunteers to invigilate a new artwork by artist Craig Fisher at the National Waterfront Museum from 12th April to 1st June 2014. You will be expected to be present at the site, interact with the public to encourage them to engage with the artwork on display as well as ensuring that the visitors do not touch the artwork. You may also be required to assist a member of staff on an Art Across the City guided tour.
Days: Monday to Sunday 10am – 5pm.
Skills required: Reliability and ability to communicate with the public, other team members and talk about art.
Dress code: You will be provided with a Locws top to wear while invigilating.
This role is flexible, hours suitable for volunteer
Main period of commitment – 8 weeks
Practical Art Workshop Support: We are looking for a committed volunteer to assist in the running of practical art workshops organized by Locws International.
Skills required: Enthusiasm for the Arts, reliability and ability to communicate with the public, other team members and the artist, basic understanding of art practices. Previous experience of workshop support is desirable but not essential.
