LOCWS Creative Participation Programme 2018
Workshop 4 : Bloom Project, 6th – 9th Mar
LOCWS International are really excited to be working with the incredible Bloom Project on our Locws Outreach programme! The film-making course took place at Volcano Theatre and the group kicked off the first day with lots of interesting discussions and ideas.
The film is called ‘Bloom TV‘ and it is packed full of slap-stick humour, comedy out-takes, and TV channel classics. Local film-maker Dave Marchant is working with this fantastic group of people and we can’t wait to see the finished film.

Keep an eye on our YouTube channel to see the film and join us for a screening of the film in the SwanComm Film Festival on May 26th at The National Waterfront Museum.

Bloom is a Red Cafe project, Red Cafe is the community project of Linden Church in West Cross, working to bring people together in our local community and across the city. Bloom welcomes asylum seekers and refugees to our City and focuses on helping them integrate and flourish. Bloom works through home visits, friendship, creating volunteering opportunities, resources to help create comfortable and safe homes and so much more.
There are lots of asylum seekers and refugees in Swansea from a number of countries. For many the journey has been all about survival. Blooms vision is to help those arriving begin a new life here in Swansea, to thrive and bloom!
The workshops enabled participants to design, develop and create their own film which involved creative writing, character design, animation, video and sound recording, and editing. Participants were encouraged to develop their own ideas from the outset and were guided through the process of scripting, designing, and shooting their films.
LOCWS International works in partnership with other Third Sector, Educational and Cultural organisations in Swansea to contribute towards; alleviating the effects of poverty, and helping individuals benefit from exposure to the creative industries and the cultural sector.
