Hey For Lubberland! 2009. Simon and Tom Bloor
Simon & Tom Bloor’s works and projects use a range of media including publications, drawing, sculpture and installation to investigate moments of utopian potential and flawed idealisms. With an approach to research that has been described as more ‘magpie-like’ than academic, their work often adapts existing texts and images culled from a variety of sources, filtering and re-presenting this information to reveal hidden connections and obscure histories or to create shifts in context that encourage new readings and alternative interpretations. Crossing the boundaries between art, design and social history their work moves beyond art’s continued fascination with the aesthetics of Modernism and into the uncertain territory of something more engaged with its social structures.
