Maider López’s projects focus on the intriguingly humorous or the extraordinary behind the obvious and ordinary, creating various events and situations for individuals to gather. Her practice moves between art, design and architecture. López enjoys interrupting assumptions by creating interventions in spaces, situations and architecture. Her works often involve the active participation of the viewer, and can take the unprepared by surprise when an aspect of a familiar space is highlighted or altered.
López completed a BA Fine Art at the University of the Basque Country, Bilbao, in 1998; MA in Fine Art at Chelsea College of Art and Design, London, in 1999.

She has exhibited extensively throughout Europe and aboard.
