Locws International is pleased to announce its 2nd annual Public Art Open Submission competition for UK and international artists interested in working in the public realm. Artists are invited to submit their work for consideration for a temporary public artwork to be realised in the city of Swansea, Wales, UK, as part of Locws International\u2019s\u00a0Art Across The City<\/strong><\/a>\u00a0during 2015, which will be our 15th anniversary year.<\/p>\n

The two<\/em> selected artists will receive a \u00a31,000 fee and a budget up to \u00a32,500 to cover design, production, materials and installation, plus agreed expenses.<\/p>\n

Ten artists from the Open Submission process will be shortlisted with two being selected by the judging panel to develop and deliver their proposal. All shortlisted artists will be considered for future Locws International events and commissions.<\/p>\n

\n3. A CV and statement of up to 500 words about your work including any initial ideas you may have where relevant
\n4. Submission fee of \u00a315.00 per submission payable via PayPal \u2013 use link below<\/p>\n

We do not require full proposals at this stage. Selected artists will work closely with Locws on developing their proposals, site, public participation, education and outreach programme, etc.\u00a0Please note, experience of working in the public realm is not essential, but please reference this in your statement, and why you feel your work may be suitable.<\/p>\n

The 10 shortlisted applicants will be notified in early December. The successful applicants will be informed by December 12th. The commission will be completed in 2015, as part of Locws International\u2019s Art Across The City programme. Locws International reserve the right to delay commissions and\/or not select at this stage.<\/p>\n

The 2013 inaugural Public Art Open Submission was presented to artist Jeremy Millar<\/a> for his proposal Am I Glad To Be Here. A second commission was awarded to artist Lisa Scantlebury<\/a>. Both works featured as part of Art Across The City 2014.<\/a><\/p>\n

2015 will be Locws International’s 15th anniversary. In that time, we have commissioned over 100 artists to make new work including Jeremy Deller<\/a>, Jon Burgerman, Sinta Tantra, Tatham & O’Sullivan, Olaf Breuning and Bob & Roberta Smith.<\/p>\n

We will be announcing the six artists for Art Across The City 2015 shortly, which will be supported by two further commissions (Dominic from Luton<\/a> and DJ Roberts) commissioned in 2014 as well as the two Open Submission artists and our permanent artworks including Pete Fowler<\/a>, Bedwyr Williams<\/a> and Jeremy Deller.<\/p>\n
