Locws International\u2019s annual Education and Outreach Exhibition<\/i><\/b> was successfully launched today at the Grand Theatre<\/a>, Swansea, and officially opened by The Lord Mayor Of The City & County of Swansea<\/a>, Councillor Ceinwen Thomas.<\/p>\n

The exhibition, organised in association with Swansea Arts in Education, showcases Locws International\u2019s award winning Education and Outreach programme and the artwork created by local creative talent during Locws Schools<\/b> in 2014 with artist David Marchant. The participating schools are\u00a0Townhill Primary School,<\/b>\u00a0Ysgol Gynradd Gymraeg\u00a0Llwynderw<\/b>,\u00a0Plasmarl Primary\u00a0School<\/b>,\u00a0Ysgol Gynradd Gymraeg\u00a0Bryn-Y-Mor<\/b>,\u00a0Terrace Road Primary\u00a0School<\/b>,\u00a0Talycopa Primary\u00a0School,\u00a0Ysgol Gynradd Gymraeg\u00a0Pont-Y-Brenin<\/b>, and\u00a0Arfryn Education Centre. <\/b>The Education & Outreach programme received a Lord Mayor\u2019s Award in April 2014.<\/p>\n

The exhibition also features the winning entries and a selection of the best artworks submitted for our summer competition, Dylans Character Wall\u00a0<\/a>.\u00a0Inspired by the writing of Dylan Thomas and his wonderful characters, we received hundreds of drawings to be included on a large mural in Swansea.<\/p>\n

The Lord Mayor Of The City & County of Swansea Councillor Ceinwen Thomas awarded four main prizes, sponsored by Play Right<\/a>, Swansea. The winners are:<\/p>\n

Cora Ellacott (aged 7)
\nElysia Beynon (aged 10)
\nLewis Walker (aged 5)
\nStephanie Lowe (aged 5)<\/p>\n

Rebecca Rendell, Locws International\u2019s Arts & Outreach Officer said \u2018The sheer scale of the children\u2019s imagination and sense of fun in the exhibition shows that the arts is an excellent way of learning. We are constantly impressed by the number of entries to our competitions and the schools contribution to our programme.\u2019<\/p>\n

The exhibition runs until Saturday 18th October, Gallery on Level 2 at Swansea Grand Theatre.<\/p>\n
