Mayals Primary School Workshops<\/strong><\/p>\n

\u201cIt looks like a tornado with a head on top\u201d, said Joel \u201cor a genie coming out of a lamp\u201d, said Amy. There was instant interest and lots of questions about Pete Fowler\u2019s Mural on Swansea High Street. The class and the teacher particularly liked the stylisation, pallet and balanced composition.<\/p>\n

<\/p>\n

The octopus was of particular interest to the children as they associated it with the nautical positioning of their own school. The class liked most of the artworks and were very keen to discuss what they saw. The golden palm trees sparkled \u2018like jewellery. Lottie commented on Olaf Breuning\u2019s work, asking if it was to do with everyone being connected, which was very intuitive. Georgia thought that Rik Bennett\u2019s \u2018Terpsichorean Trio\u2019 looked like an old-fashioned movie and Naz thought that Sean Poulson\u2019s installation \u2018We are here\u2019, looked like a fun house in a fairground. <\/p>\n

Back at school the class immersed themselves in the project. They gathered ideas gaining inspiration form the Artworks and merging it with their site to meet their solution. The class settled on a giant octopus holding Iconic sections of Mumbles. They also agreed on including several alien spaceships, which the boys were very impressed with. The class were very focused in their application of paint and all contributed to the construction of the mural. It was a pleasure working at Mayals primary school and we created a fantastic external Mural right at the entrance of the school gate for all to see. The finished work was uplifting and I am in no doubt that it will provide plenty of opportunity for discussion with children, parents and other school visitors. A Great work for a great school.<\/p>\n
