Locws International are very pleased to announce artist, Olaf Breuning<\/a> has been added to the line up of artists for Art Across The City 2013, alongside artists Pete Fowler<\/a> and Sinta Tantra<\/a>.\u00a0Breuning travels extensively, with his expeditions often informing in his work<\/a>. Breuning’s photographs, installations, sculptures,\u00a0films and drawings are irreverent, tragically heroic and\u00a0funny. His views of ‘Google Culture’ submerge the viewer with a relentless\u00a0deluge of references, clues and frustrating dead ends.<\/p>\n

For Art Across The City<\/a> 2013, Breuning will exhibit two\u00a0monumental black sculptures which appear to be a take on modernist public art. However, the sculptures are Breuning’s initials on a grand scale, \u00a0a giant O and B.\u00a0Sat atop these sculptures are two simple, perhaps too simple answers \u2013 YES? \/ NO?<\/p>\n

Breuning was sent a selection of drawings from Locws International’s Swansea Icons<\/a> schools workshop programme. Using these as inspiration (and vice versa), Breuning’s own drawings on the sculptures are aloof, being both nonsensical and enigmatic about consumerism, communication and the modern world we live in.<\/p>\n

Situated in Castle Square<\/a>, Swansea, the work acts as both a meeting place, a point of discussion and a gateway to the High Street and City Centre.<\/p>\n

Breuning was born in Switzerland and now lives and works in New York. Recent solo exhibitions include\u00a0Palais de Tokyo, Paris;\u00a0Kodama Gallery, Kyoto;\u00a0Nicola von Senger Gallery, Z\u00fcrich;\u00a0Michael Benevento, Los Angeles. Recent group exhibitions include\u00a0CAA Wattis Institute for Contemporary Arts, San\u00a0Francisco;\u00a054th Venice Biennale, Venice;\u00a0Nelson\u2013Atkins Museum of Art, Kansas City;\u00a0PS1 Contemporary Art Center, New York;\u00a0The Museum of Contemporary Art (S.M.A.K.);\u00a0Museum der Moderne, Salzburg, AT.<\/p>\n

His work is included in many\u00a0public and private collections including\u00a0<\/strong>AROS, Aarhus; \u00a0Bank Julius B\u00e4r & Co.
