Guided Tour of Art Across The City 2012<\/strong><\/p>\n

After an explanation about Locws and its influence in bringing contemporary art to Swansea, the class were prepared to unravel some great contemporary art for themselves. The class were very inquisitive about Fiona Curran\u2019s Artwork, with Jayden opening up the discussion by stating, \u201cWow that\u2019s amazing, how was that put together? How did the artist get it up the tree, did she make it first?
\nJosh said, \u201cWe could make one in school from coloured plastic pens\u201d.
\nOlivia asked, \u201cAre they a game of dominos that have all collapsed\u201d. Adam said, \u201cIs it an explosion?\u201d and Sam asked if it was a giant bird.<\/p>\n

Onward to David Blandy\u2019s work, Olivia and Jayden asked if it represents video games. Everyone had a go and Tegan said, \u201cIt was awesome when I was playing the guitar because my brothers name is Dylan\u201d.
\n\u201cIts to do with Halloween\u201d, said Sam when approaching Jock Mooney\u2019s work and Josh thought that we could make our own kebab from cows or squirrels as these were appropriate to their school surroundings. Ellie said that we could put a school dinner onto a Kebab skewer.<\/p>\n

The class teachers, Mrs Hopkins and Mrs Taylor, got very excited with the concept of David Marchant\u2019s work and wanted to draw faces with sparklers.
\nSome of the children reacted by saying that they could use pipe cleaners or draw each other on the playground with chalk. Ava asked, \u201cIs that an Angel?\u201d referring to a Neon. \u201cIs it father Christmas?\u201d said Josh. \u201cThey look like x factor singers\u201d, said Ellie, whilst Ava thought one was Tracy Beaker.<\/p>\n

The class were already familiar with the \u201cshelters\u201d as they have already designed magical birds for the Locws Art competition. Jordan still asked if they were shops or giant letterboxes. The class really connected with the concept of the day and with the teachers being so enthusiastic, ideas were flowing. We are all looking forward to the workshop visits.
\nMrs Taylor was very impressed with the wide range of art on display and the diversity of all of the work on display.<\/p>\n
