Guided Tour of Art Across The City 2012<\/strong><\/p>\n

We arrived at St Mary\u2019s church and the children were very interested and keen to get started. There were some very interesting perceptive comments made by the pupils from Whitestone Primary and Mitsi initiated a discussion about Fiona Curren\u2019s work by asking, \u201cIs this two worlds trying to meet up as they look like they are trying to attach together?\u201d It was a very vibrant way to begin our tour as all the children were instantly engaged in this art piece.<\/p>\n

We moved on to Oxford Street and the second piece in our tour. Cleo asked if David Blandy\u2019s work, \u2018The Devil Meets Dylan Thomas\u2019 was Pop Art and Mitsi asked, \u201cWhy are the pictures in Manga style?\u201d
\n\tThis class seemed very interested in Art and also had knowledge of Swansea. Lauren, Laura, and Emily all worked out what Icons were on Jock Mooney\u2019s work as they had seen them around the city and had also heard a newspaper article about the Swansea Devil. Ben even knew the story of our famous lifesaving dog, \u2018Swansea Jack\u2019. Cleo asked if this work was a \u2018Key\u2019 for the city.
\n\tBefore discussing \u2018Cowin Lush\u2019, Eddie instantly asked if these pieces by Dave Marchant were Neon and Emily asked if they represented people having a night out! The children were very perceptive and this interest was maintained for the whole tour.
\nTatham and O\u2019Sullivan\u2019s art piece was the final stop on the tour and Eddie said, \u201cAre they shelters? \u201d, which, of course, is the title of the piece -Wow. <\/p>\n
