Penclawdd Primary School Workshops<\/strong><\/p>\n

The children were very excited to start their art works. They had already began creating a version of Fiona Curran\u2019s \u2018An accident waiting to happen\u2019 or as they called it \u2018Broken bridge\u2019. The whole class contributed to the piece and made small clay models of people, which were underneath a broken structure. Each child added a coloured stick to the sculpture.<\/p>\n

The children also made a giant Penclawdd washing line, inspired by Jock Mooney. The piece was made out of clay and had a donkey, a seagull, a rabbit and a bell as its Icons. It was a fun piece and the children worked extremely hard on their models.<\/p>\n

One group had the fantastic idea to make a cockleshell shaped neon using fairy lights. This David Marchant inspired piece also incorporated the work of Dylan Thomas. The children wanted to fit the Dylan Thomas element into their terms work and therefore decided to base the piece upon his story, \u2018A child\u2019s Christmas in Wales\u2019. The neon cockleshell stood above a ceramic snowman and a floor covered in strips of paper, each piece containing a quote from the story. It was a beautiful scene.
\nAnother group created a very vibrant and exciting art piece using lots of little boxes. This was a response to Tatham and O\u2019Sullivan\u2019s \u2018Shelters\u2019, and the children were very fortunate with the resources provided by the caretaker and the class teacher who worked hard sourcing the large logs to put these sculptures upon.
\nEmily said, \u201c I enjoyed the project very much, when are you coming back?\u201d
\n\u201cI wish I could do more\u201d, said Lily who was a great model maker. \u201c I would just love to do this again,\u201d said Jack.<\/p>\n
