\nMaider L\u00f3pez’s projects focus on the intriguingly humorous or the extraordinary behind the obvious and ordinary, creating various events and situations for individuals to gather. Her practice moves between art, design and architecture. L\u00f3pez enjoys interrupting assumptions by creating interventions in spaces, situations and architecture. Her works often involve the active participation of the viewer, and can take the unprepared by surprise when an aspect of a familiar space is highlighted or altered.
\nL\u00f3pez completed a BA Fine Art at the University of the Basque Country, Bilbao, in 1998; MA in Fine Art at Chelsea College of Art and Design, London, in 1999.

\nShe has exhibited extensively throughout Europe and aboard. Some of her works include: 51st Venice Biennale (2005); Columnes, Caixa Forum, Barcelona (2006); AdosAdos, Guggenheim Bilbao, Spain (2007); SCAPE Christchurch Biennial of Art in Public Space, New Zealand; Line of sight, Zendai Moma Museum, Shanghai (2008); Sharjah Biennial 9, United Arab Emirates (2009); Between you and I, Witte de With and Skor, Holland, Deveron Arts, Huntley, Scotland and Eclats at Centre Pompidou Metz (2010).
