{"id":1443,"date":"2007-10-18T21:34:46","date_gmt":"2007-10-18T20:34:46","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/locwsinternational.com\/?p=1443"},"modified":"2013-02-12T15:37:39","modified_gmt":"2013-02-12T15:37:39","slug":"locws-schools-2007-daniel-james-community-school","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/locwsinternational.com\/?p=1443","title":{"rendered":"Locws Schools 2007: Daniel James Community School"},"content":{"rendered":"<p><\/br><br \/>\n<strong>Guided Tour<\/strong><\/br><br \/>\n<\/br><br \/>\nThe pupils approached the artworks with open, inquisitive minds and with very interesting responses.<\/br><br \/>\n<\/br><br \/>\nAlongside the beauty of St Mary\u2019s church, Rhona Byrnes\u2019 projection posed a good starting point, which Niall commented on, \u2018the work visually shows you aspects of Swansea you weren\u2019t aware of\u2019.<\/br><br \/>\n<\/br><br \/>\nTorsten Lauschmann\u2019s, Piecework orchestra, opened up the subject of -What is art? Jessica saying, \u2018all the art I knew about was drawing and painting\u2019. She was inspired by Torsten\u2019s work calling it \u2018funky\u2019, with Shane replying, \u2018art is everywhere\u2019.<\/br><br \/>\n<\/br><br \/>\nSara Rees\u2019 Kairos was very well received, with a large cohort of pupils believing the work showed a comparison between classes.<\/br><br \/>\n<\/br><br \/>\nNiamh McCann\u2019s sculptural mural was viewed and generated varied opinions, some were on a political level, comparing capitalism with communism and with the ospreys representing freedom &#8211; (Nicky.) The graffiti being left exposed on the side of the work posing the question of identity.<\/br><br \/>\n<\/br><br \/>\nThe pupils responded well to the work of Milena at Swansea museum using political words such as \u2018propaganda\u2019 and \u2018one sided interpretation\u2019 when discussing the work We still do not know where will be the last cemetery.<\/br><br \/>\n<\/br><br \/>\nWe ended our tour with Rebecca Gould\u2019s work in the Norwegian Church.
