LOCWS Creative Participation Programme 2018<\/h2>\n

Workshop 5 : CCS Communities For Work, 13th – 16th Mar<\/h3>\n

LOCWS International<\/strong> are proud to work alongside\u00a0Communities For Work<\/strong><\/a> and City and County of Swansea<\/strong><\/a> for the fifth film course on the LOCWS Creative Participation Programme 2018<\/strong>.\u00a0<\/a>Tutor and Film-Maker Jamie Panton<\/strong><\/a>, worked with individuals from the Communities For Work<\/strong> support programme over 4 days at Volcano Theatre<\/a><\/strong> to deliver the Agored Cymru<\/strong><\/a> accredited course in partnership with Adult Learning Wales.\u00a0<\/strong><\/a>This course was developed with support from the\u00a0<\/strong><\/a>Welsh Government Fusion Programme\u00a0<\/a><\/strong>‘Creating Opportunities Through Culture’.\u00a0 The\u00a0Fusion<\/strong>\u00a0programme promotes cultural projects that support confidence and empowerment, that use arts and culture as tools to improve physical and mental health and well-being, and which develop employability skills, particularly through accredited skills, courses and placements.<\/p>\n

The workshops enabled participants to design, develop and create their own film which involved creative writing, character design, animation, video and sound recording, and editing. Participants were encouraged to develop their own ideas from the outset and were guided through the process of scripting, designing, and shooting their films.<\/p>\n

The group were busy with tech equipment, lighting and filming techniques from the very start of day one, and moved on to develop ideas around the theme of ‘HOME’. The team spent time reaching out to local organisations in the area, and they arranged a number of interviews with local community representatives, using a list of great questions around their chosen theme that the group had produced together. This gave them the opportunity to develop new skills and self confidence, whilst networking with Swansea businesses, and practising new technical filming and camera skills.<\/p>\n

The team went on to shoot on location around the city, including at the beach and in the surrounding residential areas overlooking the City centre, with the use of an advanced drone camera.<\/p>\n
