LOCWS Creative Participation Programme 2018<\/h2>\n

Workshop 4 : Bloom Project, 6th – 9th Mar<\/h3>\n

LOCWS International<\/strong> are really excited to be working with the incredible\u00a0Bloom Project<\/a><\/strong>\u00a0on our Locws Outreach programme! The film-making course took place at\u00a0Volcano Theatre<\/strong><\/a>\u00a0and the group kicked off the first day with lots of interesting discussions and ideas.<\/p>\n

The film is called ‘Bloom TV<\/em>‘ and it is packed full of slap-stick humour, comedy out-takes, and TV channel classics. Local film-maker\u00a0Dave Marchant<\/strong><\/a> is working with this fantastic group of people and we can’t wait to see the finished film.<\/p>\n

“I think the course made me think about doing more courses. I improved my computer experience. It’s a really great course.”<\/span><\/em><\/p>\n

Bloom<\/strong>\u00a0is a\u00a0Red Cafe<\/strong><\/a>\u00a0project,\u00a0Red Cafe<\/strong>\u00a0is the community project of\u00a0Linden Church<\/strong>\u00a0in West Cross,\u00a0working to bring people together in our local community and across the city.\u00a0Bloom<\/strong>\u00a0welcomes asylum seekers and refugees to our City and focuses on helping them integrate and flourish.\u00a0Bloom<\/strong>\u00a0works through home visits, friendship, creating volunteering opportunities, resources to help create comfortable and safe homes and so much more.<\/p>\n

There are lots of asylum seekers and refugees in Swansea from a number of countries. For many the journey has been all about survival.\u00a0Blooms<\/strong>\u00a0vision is to help those arriving begin a new life here in Swansea, to thrive and bloom!<\/p>\n

The workshops enabled participants to design, develop and create their own film which involved creative writing, character design, animation, video and sound recording, and editing. Participants were encouraged to develop their own ideas from the outset and were guided through the process of scripting, designing, and shooting their films.<\/p>\n

LOCWS International<\/strong>\u00a0works in partnership with other\u00a0Third Sector, Educational\u00a0<\/strong>and\u00a0Cultural<\/strong>\u00a0organisations in Swansea to contribute towards; alleviating the effects of poverty, and helping individuals benefit from exposure to the creative industries and the cultural sector.<\/p>\n
