LOCWS Creative Participation Programme 2018<\/h2>\n

Workshop 3 : Toronto Place, 27th Feb – 13th Mar<\/h3>\n

LOCWS International<\/strong> are proud to return to Toronto Place<\/strong><\/a> for a second year to run a 4 day film workshop. The enthusiastic group designed and created a unique short film from start to finish, it is one of 8 films made with community groups across Swansea as part of the\u00a02018 Locws Outreach Programme.<\/strong><\/p>\n

A dynamic group of adults at Toronto Place<\/strong> took part in the workshop with local artist and film-maker David Marchant.<\/a><\/strong> The group developed themes around the activities that usually take place at the centre, including theatre and dance, cookery, jewellery making, and social activities for friends to come together and enjoy.<\/p>\n

Staff members at the centre were really pleased with the way the service users were excited and enthusiastic about the whole project, ‘everyone got involved and wanted to have a go.<\/em>‘ One participant in particular, who previously found it challenging to stay engaged with some activities, was completely engrossed in sound production and spent many hours using the keyboard and other equipment which amazed the staff.<\/p>\n

Toronto Place<\/strong>\u00a0supports adults with learning disabilities, it is a local authority day care centre. Swansea\u00a0Social Services<\/strong>\u00a0provides a range of services to support adults with a learning disability, also working\u00a0in close partnership with other local agencies in Swansea in providing information and support services.<\/p>\n

The workshops enabled participants to design, develop and create their own film which involved creative writing, character design, animation, video and sound recording, and editing. Participants were encouraged to develop their own ideas from the outset and were guided through the process of scripting, designing, and shooting their films.<\/p>\n

\"\"<\/a><\/p>\n

LOCWS International<\/strong>\u00a0works in partnership with other\u00a0Third Sector, Educational\u00a0<\/strong>and\u00a0Cultural<\/strong>\u00a0organisations in Swansea to contribute towards; alleviating the effects of poverty, and helping individuals benefit from exposure to the creative industries and the cultural sector.<\/p>\n
