Pupils from Gowerton Primary school year 1\/2 undertook a tour on 19\/05\/16 of the latest Locws International Art Across the City<\/strong> exhibit, RESISTANCE, the exciting commission by Rich White<\/strong><\/a> as part of the Locws\u00a0 Schools<\/strong><\/a> project during the Summer term 2016. <\/p>\n

“The year 1\/2 class from Gowerton Primary school were intrigued by Rich White\u2019s sculpture and there were lots of interesting comments and first impressions.<\/em>” – DM<\/p>\n

\u201cIt\u2019s a house\u201d,<\/em> said Bailey.\u00a0 \u201cIt\u2019s a bridge\u201d,<\/em> said Bobby.<\/p>\n

\u201cThey haven\u2019t finished it \u201c,<\/em> replied Bailey.<\/p>\n

\u201cThere are doors everywhere<\/em>\u201d, added Riley.<\/p>\n

\u201cIt\u2019s like a house that\u2019s broken\u201d,<\/em> said Ali.<\/p>\n

\u201c Its unequal, its not the same both sides. One side is painted\u201d,<\/em> said Bronwyn.<\/p>\n

\u201cIt looks like a big pile of junk\u201d,<\/em> said Josh<\/p>\n

\u201cIt\u2019s more than junk\u201d,<\/em> Mohammed replied.<\/p>\n

“This class were very interested in the piece and busily rushed around exploring it from all angles. This class were called the \u2018Ant class\u2019, which was very appropriate as they discovered an ants nest that inhabited the work.<\/em><\/p>\n

Jay and Gabriel spotted lots of patterns within the furniture and on the artwork. They all thought that it looked like lots of buildings<\/em>” – DM<\/p>\n

Ali said \u201cIt reminds me of a secret door to somewhere\u201d.<\/em><\/p>\n

“The children were looking forward to making their own art work back at school and were discussing their ideas as they walked back to the bus.<\/em>” – DM<\/p>\n

Following the tour of Rich White’s work children from\u00a0Gowerton\u00a0Primary school attended a two day workshop with our ‘Artist in Residence’ Dave Marchant. The workshops saw the children create exciting 2D and 3 D sculptures using mixed media that interpreted the work they saw on the tour. Take\u00a0a look at the amazing work they created below:<\/p>\n
