Pupils from Oystermouth Primary school year 1 undertook a tour on 18\/05\/16 of the latest LOCWS International Art Across the City<\/strong> exhibit, RESISTANCE, the exciting commission by Rich White<\/strong><\/a> as part of the LOCWS Schools<\/strong><\/a> project during the Summer term 2016.\u00a0<\/p>\n

“I was met with enthusiasm by the year 1 class from Oystermouth Primary school. I began my introduction and received several interesting comments.<\/em>” – DM<\/p>\n

Comments: \u201cArt can be anything it can be made from wood, metal, found material. It can be made from anything and has to blow your mind<\/em>\u201d said Seren.<\/p>\n

Miranda said, \u201cArt has to be interesting<\/em>\u201d.<\/p>\n

“The children enjoyed exploring the art piece \u2018Resistance\u2019 by Rich White and were intrigued by the differences in the piece.<\/em>” – DM<\/p>\n

\u201cOn one side you would use your imagination and on the other side it\u2019s like a normal house walls<\/em>\u201d, said Orla.<\/p>\n

“The children used lots of technical language and were already keen artists.<\/em>” – DM<\/p>\n

\u201cOne side is 3D and one side is 2D<\/em>\u201d, said Max.<\/p>\n

“The children spent a lot of time drawing the sculpture ad thinking about ideas for their art project in the school.<\/em>” – DM<\/p>\n

\u201cI enjoyed drawing the sculpture at the museum<\/em>\u201d, said Evie.<\/p>\n

\nSam said, \u201cIt reminded me of a haunted house<\/em>\u201d.<\/p>\n

\u201cI liked it because it\u2019s like a big den<\/em>\u201d, said Harry..<\/p>\n

“I am looking forward to seeing what ideas the children have when I visit the school after half term.<\/em>” – DM<\/p>\n

The pupils of Oystermouth Primary school then\u00a0attended 2 days of creative workshops in their school where they created\u00a0artwork in response to the tour led by our ‘Artist in Residence’; David Marchant. The workshops saw the children create exciting interpretive 2D and 3 D sculptures using mixed media. Take\u00a0a look at some of the lovely examples below:<\/p>\n
