{"id":10150,"date":"2015-06-29T12:30:14","date_gmt":"2015-06-29T12:30:14","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/www.locwsinternational.com\/?p=10150&#038;langswitch_lang=en"},"modified":"2015-06-29T12:30:14","modified_gmt":"2015-06-29T12:30:14","slug":"locws-schools-2015-gowerton-comprehensive-workshops","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/locwsinternational.com\/?p=10150","title":{"rendered":"Locws Schools 2015: Gowerton Comprehensive: Workshops"},"content":{"rendered":"<p><strong>Workshop days with David Marchant<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>Having the help of enthusiastic teachers gives a great flow to our workshop days.<br \/>\nThere were lots of Artwork made and the class was extremely productive.<br \/>\n\u201cHaving an Artist into school really inspired y9\u201d, Said the Head of Year .<!--more-->Sand, Sea, Sky, Sundae, was the name given to a large sculpture of an ice cream\u00a0 made from mod rock and chicken wire.<br \/>\nThe Blob was a sculptural work symbolised by an alien object that had landed on a school stool in the art room. This conceptualised piece took its inspiration from <a href=\"http:\/\/www.locwsinternational.com\/?portfolio=michael-stumpf&amp;langswitch_lang=en\"><strong>Michael Stumpf\u2019s<\/strong><\/a> work. The stool that the blob was on was then personalised by each individual.<br \/>\nOne group researched that Swansea was founded 900 years ago and made a collage with the figure 900 in the centre.<br \/>\nThere were a variety of ideas based on <a href=\"http:\/\/www.locwsinternational.com\/?portfolio=colin-priest&amp;langswitch_lang=en\"><strong>Colin Priest\u2019s<\/strong><\/a> work using memories.<br \/>\nA tree was made from collected twigs and wired onto a back board with memories written onto hand printed leaves. A large painting of the school was produced with memories surrounding it written onto printed clouds which the pupils had photographed.<br \/>\nEvery pupil made a sign as a take on <a href=\"http:\/\/www.locwsinternational.com\/?portfolio=graham-dolphin&amp;langswitch_lang=en\"><strong>Graham Dolphin\u2019s<\/strong><\/a> work which had imagery which was personal to the individuals. These were then photographed as a prototype sculpture which was then based in the Grounds of the school.<\/p>\n<p>&#8211;<\/p>\n<p><strong>Save the date<\/strong> See the outcomes of this project in
