{"id":5590,"date":"2012-04-05T15:15:19","date_gmt":"2012-04-05T15:15:19","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/www.locwsinternational.com\/?post_type=portfolio&#038;p=5590"},"modified":"2022-02-02T16:44:32","modified_gmt":"2022-02-02T16:44:32","slug":"laura-ford","status":"publish","type":"portfolio","link":"https:\/\/locwsinternational.com\/?portfolio=laura-ford","title":{"rendered":"Laura Ford"},"content":{"rendered":"<p><strong>Little Bird<\/strong><br \/>\nThe Princess Way<\/p>\n<p>Laura Ford\u2019s new figurative work stands in the open space at the top of the Princess Way, a major junction and arterial route within the city centre, a waypoint that is navigated through and beyond by the people of Swansea.<br \/>\nHer sculpture is \u2018Little Bird\u2019; a figure of a lost child struck motionless, disorientated at a critical crossroad while under the gaze of the oncoming traffic of viewers. Laura Ford creates tension within the work by giving it the posture of a child trying to be invisible whilst being uncomfortably aware that she is in full view. She is adorned in a fancy dress bird costume that could appear either as protective armour or a demonic curse.
