Trees
Museum Green
In her new project ‘Trees’, Maider López uses the subtle realignment of an element of the urban landscape to emphasise how the design of public spaces affects our way of living in the city and the way we interact with it.
Using the example of a tree planted in the middle of a pathway within a formally designed landscape, López shows us how the tree has been taken out of its context and turned into an architectural barrier that obstructs our way. Her subtle intervention into this design, planting a small woodland that counteracts its rigid formality, creates a surprise in the urban landscape that transforms it away from being an area of strict regimentation.
