Welcome to Locws International 2009, an exhibition of new temporary artworks by a selection of dynamic international artists in public and accessible sites across the city of Swansea.

Locws International invites artists to create new artworks that are a direct response to the people, culture, heritage and landscape of the city, and for this event all of the artists involved have spent time in the city, investigating its many facets and developing their ideas based on their discoveries. Locws International therefore not only presents a current snapshot of contemporary art practice but also presents a unique reflection of the spirit of this city at this time.

Our thanks go to the artists who have brought their creative vision to the city and to our supporters who have made this event possible. This year has seen the development of a number of successful partnerships with organisations and individuals across Swansea and we would like to thank all of the people involved.

Croeso i Locws Rhyngwladol 2009, arddangosfa o weithiau celf newydd dros dro gan ddetholiad o artistiaid dynamig rhyngwladol mewn safleoedd cyhoeddus a hwylus ar draws dinas Abertawe.

Mae Locws Rhyngwladol yn gwahodd artistiaid i greu gweithiau celf newydd sy’n ymateb yn uniongyrchol i bobl, diwylliant, etifeddiaeth a thirlun y ddinas. Mae’r artistiaid sy’n ymwneud â’r arddangosfa hon wedi treulio amser yn y ddinas yn ymchwilio i’w hagweddau niferus a datblygu eu syniadau ar sail eu canfyddiadau. Nid yn unig felly mae Locws Rhyngwladol yn cyflwyno ciplun cyfredol o arferion celf modern ond mae hefyd yn cyflwyno llun unigryw o ysbryd cyfredol y ddinas hon.

Diolch i’r artistiaid sydd wedi cyflwyno eu gweledigaeth greadigol i’r ddinas ac i’n cefnogwyr sydd wedi gwneud y digwyddiad hwn yn bosib. Eleni, rydym wedi gweld sawl partneriaeth yn datblygu ar y cyd â sefydliadau ac unigolion ar draws Abertawe a hoffem ddiolch i’r holl bobl sy’n rhan o’r partneriaethau hynny.
